We’d like to take this opportunity to stop talking about the “Hitchslap” for a moment, and celebrate the fact that Dennis Villeneuve’s film adaptation of DUNE won Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards, featuring the work of 9 VanArts graduates in 3D Character Animation & Visual Effects:

DUNE was nomimated for 10 Oscars in total, and took home 6 of them, for Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Sound, and Best Original Score.
